TEN FACTS ON RHOETOSAURUS 1. Rhoetosaurus was one of Australia's oldest dinosaurs. It lived about 180 MYA (million years ago). 2. Rhoetosaurus was about fifteen metres long and seven metres high. 3. Rhoetosaurus had a long neck so that it could reach up for plants to eat. 4. Rhoetosaurus has been found near the town of Roma in Queensland. 5. The first Rhoetosaurus bones were found by Mr Arthur Browne in 1924. 6. The bones of a whole back foot have been found. 7. Other bones found have been a thigh bone (a femur) and some backbones. 8. Rhoetosaurus would have weighed about twenty tonnes. 9. Rhoetosaurus belonged to a family of dinosaurs called sauropods. 10. This dinosaur is named after Rhoetos, a giant in Greek myths. |
