Australian Triceratops were much smaller than those found in other parts of the world. Bones found in Victoria may have belonged to a kind of Triceratops. It was very cold in Victoria then. Perhaps that is why Australian Triceratops was much smaller than other triceratops. Triceratops had three horns on its head. They might have been to protect itself against hunters like the Allosaurus. The name 'TRICERATOPS means three horned face. It had a horny beak and shearing teeth. This dinosaur probably ate the fronds of ferns for it was a plant eater. |
