Strange name !

Muttaburra is a town in Queensland, Australia. In 1963, the fossilized bones of a dinosaur were found near Muttaburra. It was a new species of dinosaur and it was called Muttaburrasaurus.  In 1987, another skull was found in Queensland.

Strange nose !

The skulls showed that Muttaburrasaurus had a strange hollow bump on its nose. Scientists guess that the hollow might have been used to help the dinosaur make loud noises.

Walking

It appears that Muttaburrasarus spent most of its time on four legs. However, it could also stand up on its two back legs to reach leaves high in trees.

Food

Muttaburrasaurus had extremely strong jaws and teeth. It ate plants and some scientists think that it could also have eaten some meat.

How big was Muttaburrasaurus?

This dinosaur was about 3 metres tall when it was on four legs. Its body was about ten metres long.
