Male and Female Mantids. How do you tell the difference?

Mantids are insects and that means that they have three parts to their body; the head, abdomen and thorax.

Look at the abdomen of the mantis. If the abdomen has six segments, it is a female. If the abdomen has eight segments, it is a male.
