The lowest point of Australia is Lake Eyre in South Australia.
It is fifteen metres below sea level.

The highest part of Australia is Mt Kosciusko in New South Wales.
It is 2 229 metres above sea level.

Australia is in the southern hemisphere and the eastern hemisphere. It is surrounded by three oceans and four seas.
The oceans are the
Pacific Ocean to the east,
Indian Ocean to the west and
Southern Ocean to the south.

The seas are the Tasman, Timor, Arafura and Coral Seas.

Australia is wealthy is natural resources. Some of these are coal, gold,
iron ore, bauxite, uranium, oil, gas, copper, nickel and tin.

Australia has many serious environmental issues. It has the worst record of animal and plant extinctions over the past two centuries. Introduced animals like cats, foxes and cane toads threaten the wildlife. Introduced weeds like mimosa pigra are invading huge areas of our bush. So much land has been cleared that forests and woodlands (14% of Australia)  have been damaged and salt has damaged up to 10% of the farming land. Overgrazing of land and looking after the water supplies are important issues.
